Top 3 Business Insights from Last 7 YEARS | Liron’s Podcast Episode 130

In today’s episode I’m sharing 3 BIG business-related insights I gained over the last 7 years of building my art business. These are MACRO insights that I think you and anyone can benefit from, even if you’re NOT building a business.

Let’s get to it!

#1 – Things never work out the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time

I can’t even begin to count my failures. It’s simply an INHERENT part of doing something worthwhile – Learning a skill, creating a relationship, building a business etc…

I had to learn to recognize this fact, embrace it and continue iterating, improving and trying – until what I did WORKED.

Happens to me in painting, drawing, marketing, making content etc.

#2 – Learn from the BEST

This is another incredibly important insight I had.

If you want to learn something FASTER and more efficiently – find the person / place that’s the BEST that you can afford, and learn from that.

This will save you time, bad habits and probably even MONEY in the long run.

The ability to find these people and resources is something that will also improve with time.

#3 – Always give MORE than you receive

This is something I always try to strive for.

In any business transaction, or even personal life – I’d much rather give back more than I receive.

And again – this isn’t necessarily from a place of kindness (though I would like to think I’m kind), but rather – it’s PRACTICAL!

In the long run, you’ll always do better and get farther by providing more value than you ask for in return.

And along the way – it ends up really helping people, so why not? (:

Conclusion

These are some of my most meaningful insights from the last 7 years of working on building my art business.

There are plenty more, in all different areas of life.

Let me know if there’s anything in particular you want me to discuss here, on YouTube or any of the other channels!

You CAN Improve Your Art (more than you think is possible…) | Liron’s Podcast Episode 115

In today’s podcast episode I want to demonstrate to you just HOW MUCH BETTER you can get in your art and craft – more than you even think is possible.

Pushing My Comfort Zone

Lately I’ve had multiple experiences that have led me to push my artistic comfort zone more and more. I’ve also been pushing my discipline further, and working really hard on my technical skills (mainly drawing people and faces).

This has led to exponential growth – and that surprised even myself!

In addition, I’ve gained some more nuanced watercolor insights, mostly in the context of wet-in-wet control.

The More You Learn…

The more you realize HOW MUCH MORE there is to learn. Every new thing opens up 3 new opportunities, and that’s how you continue growing exponentially.

When I Got Started…

Luckily for me and you, I’ve been documenting my artistic journey for many years now. You can actually go back, watch my old videos, look at old Instagram posts – and see for yourself…

When I got started – I sucked! In both drawing AND watercolor.

In fact, I can go even more back, and show you older drawings from over a decade ago to prove this. I wasn’t born with a specific talent. Perhaps I developed LOVE for drawing and sketching, meaning I naturally enjoyed it, was complemented for it and encouraged by some (but definitely NOT by many, haha!) to do it.

But it wasn’t like my first drawing was great. It wasn’t even good. They sucked!

But with time and effort, I improved.

And the good news is – you can too…

I hope you found this episode encouraging!

People Didn’t Want Me to Become an Artist | Liron’s Podcast Episode 97

Today I’d like to talk to you about the start of my journey of building a business around my art, and some of the resistance and negativity I experienced on the way.

This is a topic very close to heart. Making the right decisions in that context can ENSURE you’ll have the potential to succeed.

Making the wrong decision? You’re done before you even got started.

When I Started My Business…

I started this art thing towards the end of my military service. I actually got started by writing and publishing books independently on Amazon.

That went well and I think it was a combination of skill and LOTS of luck too.

Resistance and Negativity

I encountered A LOT of pushback from family and friends when it came to pursuing a career in art, and building a business around art.

A lot of it was definitely not ill-intended. Many times people have your best interest in mind (or at least that’s what they think).

But you have to understand that they don’t have your vision, wants and needs. They have no idea what makes you happy, or how important something is for you.

People Just Don’t SEE You

A mind-boggling thing I mention in the episode is how – nowhere between 5-17 was I ever “Huh, you’re actually really good at this art thing, maybe you should do something with it!”.

It’s amazing to really think about it this way, as I was doing quit a good job even when I was around 6-7 years old, copying drawings from one of my Dr. Seuss books.

For some reason I was pushed to learn physics and computer engineering. I found those somewhat interesting, but only to a very limited extent.

Again, I can’t really blame anyone for this. Art isn’t the obvious career path, and computers and sciences were and are still on a pedestal.

But I do think the world will be a MUCH better place if people would at least notice others’ gifts and mention something. A simple compliment can go a HUGE way.

The Positive Note & A Word of Warning

Despite the pushback / resistance / negativity / limiting beliefs – my vision was clear enough for me to follow through. These clouds never really blocked it for me.

But I’m afraid SO MANY people don’t have that clarity, or aren’t as positive to see a way. I’m scared people will allow their dreams to slip away due to negative feedback from their environment.

And THAT’S what I want to make sure you avoid.

If you give up – you’re done. You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.

Conclusion

I know I’ve been all over the place with the TEXT version of the episode. But I want to keep it like that, in it’s raw authentic form.

I hope you got something out of this episode.

Take care and we’ll talk soon!
