Top 3 Business Insights from Last 7 YEARS | Liron’s Podcast Episode 130

In today’s episode I’m sharing 3 BIG business-related insights I gained over the last 7 years of building my art business. These are MACRO insights that I think you and anyone can benefit from, even if you’re NOT building a business.

Let’s get to it!

#1 – Things never work out the 1st, 2nd or 3rd time

I can’t even begin to count my failures. It’s simply an INHERENT part of doing something worthwhile – Learning a skill, creating a relationship, building a business etc…

I had to learn to recognize this fact, embrace it and continue iterating, improving and trying – until what I did WORKED.

Happens to me in painting, drawing, marketing, making content etc.

#2 – Learn from the BEST

This is another incredibly important insight I had.

If you want to learn something FASTER and more efficiently – find the person / place that’s the BEST that you can afford, and learn from that.

This will save you time, bad habits and probably even MONEY in the long run.

The ability to find these people and resources is something that will also improve with time.

#3 – Always give MORE than you receive

This is something I always try to strive for.

In any business transaction, or even personal life – I’d much rather give back more than I receive.

And again – this isn’t necessarily from a place of kindness (though I would like to think I’m kind), but rather – it’s PRACTICAL!

In the long run, you’ll always do better and get farther by providing more value than you ask for in return.

And along the way – it ends up really helping people, so why not? (:

Conclusion

These are some of my most meaningful insights from the last 7 years of working on building my art business.

Coming to NY, TikTok, LinkedIn & Plein-Air – September 2019 Plan | Liron’s Podcast Ep 90

In this episode I give you a quick rundown of my plans for September 2019. I’ll basically have to put in insane amounts of work. Wish me luck!

Coming to NY!

I’ll be in NYC for the 1st-22nd of October. Really looking forward to this vacation!

I had a couple of extremely grueling months of work, and now it’s time to rest a bit and blow off some steam.

This also means, by the way, that I have A LOT OF WORK to finish prior to going, as I want to make sure everything is prepared.

Frustration Free Watercolor Course

One of the things I REALLY have to finish before NY.

I want to launch the course asap, as I’ve been working on it for a long time and I know so many need it (and are already waiting for it!).

I have to now edit all the lessons and work on the sales pages and website itself.

I believe I can wrap this up in 2 weeks or so.

TikTok App

I think this app has some potential to eventually overthrow Instagram. I want to start figuring it out and making sure I’m creating content there.

this is going to be the real challenge… I want to film content for the entirety of October and have it scheduled in advance. I don’t really know if that’s even possible haha.

Always Make it About the Customer – Artist Business Advice | Liron’s Podcast Episode 85

In this episode we talked about how to become BETTER at SELLING, by thinking about the customer’s “selfish” wants and FIRST, rather than what we think we have to offer.

Marketing Didn’t Come Easy For me

I’d like to emphasize how marketing didn’t come naturally to me initially. It’s something I learned slowly and gradually.

Sales, funny enough, came more naturally. I already had the right mindset when it comes to selling and helping the customer get what they need and want.

But marketing, awakening the imagination of the customer, talking about their pain points and needs… That – I had to learn.

And you can too!

Most People Talk About Their Product

Most people tend to talk about THEIR product. The benefits it offers. What makes it good, and so on…

The problem is – most people don’t care. They only want one thing – to have their “problem” solved.

Ask Questions!

The perfect example is someone coming to my art booth and carefully observing the paintings. They show interest, so it’s fine for me to “jump in”.

But if I simply start talking about the paintings, why they are of good quality bla bla… I don’t address the customer.

Instead, I’d much rather ask questions. That way I’ll know what they want. So I may ask “Are you looking for something in particular?” or “Looking for a gift for someone?” and so on…

That way, even if they go “Nah thanks just browsing” – at least I know not to waste too much energy for the time being.

Find The Common Interest

Once you gained enough info, you can see if there’s what I like to call a “common interest”. You want to sell a painting – they are collecting paintings from around the world / want a gift for an art lover and so on…

Once there’s a common interest – selling is EASY.

And here’s another fun fact – the common interest may be – They’re just looking to have fun and look at art, and you want to share your work with someone. It doesn’t have to end up in a sale.

Online and Offline

The skillset of always thinking about the customer is extremely crucial for both selling online and selling offline.

The main difference is that offline you have more physical feedback, and you have to sort of narrate the customer’s thoughts and test out different ideas. More on that in a future episode.

Conclusion

I hope this gives you some idea of how important it is to first consider the potential client’s wants, needs and pain points.
