Where This Ship is Headed! 🎨 | Liron’s Podcast Episode 136

So after a REALLY LONG time I’m finally here with an update 😂😂

First off – my apologies for taking so long.
I’ve been working on many different things, and haven’t had enough time to update here as well.

In addition, I must admit that the podcast(s) is where I want to feel fully free to post ONLY whenever I feel like it (unlike YouTube which is ironclad haha).

So here’s the gist of it:

  • Took a quick break from the manga
  • Lot’s of thoughts on where my next innovation will be
  • Submitted a painting for a pokemon fanart contest on eFour forum (which is the cover photo for this episode!)

I want to really thank you for listening and sticking around.

It’s always a balancing act – juggling creating art for the sake of art, working selfishly, VS doing stuff for you, posting more content etc.

I have to make sure both ends are fulfilled 😁

With that, I hope to talk to you again real soon! 😊🙏🏼
Take care, and feel free to reach out to me anywhere on my different social media channels.

Dealing With Artistic Frustration, The Artist Journey & More Questions | Liron’s Podcast Episode 119

In today’s episode I want to address some of the questions I got in a recent Instagram live session I did – both SERIOUS and FUN ones!

Getting Over Frustration

The first question I address is regarding getting over feelings of frustration and lack of motivation / inspiration, specifically after returning to it following a break.

The question was phrased in a way that makes me see this in the MACRO – some stages in our lives will be less creative – and this is NORMAL. You may be preoccupied with important commitments, or go through a particular challenge.

It’s important to accept this and avoid judging yourself to harshly.

Additional solutions:

  • If you haven’t created in a while – set the goalpost to be creating something every day. The result DOES NOT MATTER. Paint / draw / use whatever medium you use every day, regardless of how you feel. Did you create? That’s a win.
  • Use a different medium / art supply
  • Create outside if possible
  • Take a break! If you’re on the other side of this – and you create consistently but don’t like / enjoy what you produce – a BREAK can help.

How to Start Your Art Journey?

This is another question I get often, phrased this way or similarly.

How do I get started as an artist?

How do I become an artist?

Well… Artists make art!

So if you’re making art, you are an artist.

Now comes the question – do you want to go full time? Are you striving to improve? Etc.

Listen to the audio for my full thoughts 😉

What Does Art Mean to Me?

Another interesting one I got.

To me – art is EXPRESSION.

It’s about expression yourself.

It doesn’t matter WHAT you create, your inner most authentic self will be embedded in it.

What If Watercolor Disappeared?

Here’s a VERY interesting “what if?” question I actually got on YouTube.

If watercolor & gouache disappeared from this world – what medium will I use?

My answer is either going ALL-IN on pencil and pen (including digital drawing for that matter), which I ALWAYS loved and enjoyed… OR acrylics! This is another medium I used several times and enjoyed quite a bit.

Conclusion

I hope you enjoyed hearing my takes on these questions.

I’ll do another Instagram live session next week, so make sure you follow here: @LironYanIL 😁

My BIGGEST Mental Challenge So Far | Liron’s Podcast Episode 110

In today’s episode I’m venting a bit, and sharing what is probably my biggest mental challenge so far, in my artistic career.

The Rocky Road

Any road leading towards a worthwhile goal is going to be rocky and challenging.

I have experienced quite a lot of external and internal challenges and roadblocks so far.

And this is further exacerbated when you’re building something of your own, and are basically the only person to blame, haha!

The Challenge I Currently Face

I experience a combination of multiple challenges that make up the current one.

Here are some recurring themes:

  • Too much time for content creation, not enough time for artistic creation. I refer to QUALITY time for experimentation and celebration of art, without the need or even willingness to share and document. Selfishness in a good way.
  • Realizing that the road to greatness is longer than expected.
  • Adding in MANGA creation to my list of tasks.
  • Going to bed too late and waking up too late.
  • More personal responsibilities eating away at my time.
  • Lack of motivation and connection to the larger vision.

All of these together, make a formidable challenge for me to conquer.

You Are Not Alone

If you’re in a similar position, I want you to know that this is something experienced by many, If not everyone.

These challenges can be a little frustration, however, we should view them as a guiding light. They are here to teach us a lesson we don’t know yet.

Looking at it this way, I hope you’ll see the positive in them, and learn to overcome them.

I will do my best, and share the developments.

I hope you found this episode encouraging, or at the very least interesting and entertaining (:

I’ll talk to you again soon,

My Artistic Goals for 2020 | Liron’s Podcast Episode 104

In this episode I’m sharing with you my artistic goals for 2020!

Here’s a quick list of them (the order is very fluid haha):

  1. Improve the quality of my paintings
  2. Improve my teaching skills
  3. Sell a painting for a PREMIUM price
  4. Innovation
  5. New and BETTER products

The Quality of My Art

I think at the heart of this is my art. This is the basis for everything.

It’s what charges me up with energy and what I enjoy doing the most. If I want to continue providing value for people in the long run, I HAVE TO work on my art.

Then comes the teaching, selling and so on…

A Premium Watercolor Course for FREE

Another thing that’s really been on my mind is creating an amazing product and giving it away for completely free.

Update: I’ve brainstormed several ideas and I think I’ll go with Simplifying in Watercolor.

I want to, once and for all, solve this mystery for people.

I see many struggle with this concept of how to simplify, reduce clutter and paint what matters.

So let me know if you think that’s a good topic.

I hope you enjoyed this episode. If you want to reach out – you know where to find me 😉

I hope to hear from you!

What I’m Grateful For in 2019 | Liron’s Podcast Episode 100!

Today I want to share with you the things I’m grateful for in 2019!

I believe gratitude is a very important asset for achieving success. The ability to be grateful for what you have, is what enables you to ultimately have more of it.

A good example is people trying to build their online presence and social media accounts, complaining about having only 400 followers.

A surefire recipe for getting to 4000, is to actually care about your 400.

Here are some of the things I’m grateful for in 2019:

  • Our crazy New York month-long vacation and meeting some of my followers there, and ESPECIALLY seeing up close the impact my content has on people.
  • Taking responsibility for my personal finances and being WAY more organized than in the past.
  • Teaching watercolor private lessons consistently.
  • Publishing 2 articles in the Leisure Painter magazine, and the really positive experience I had around that.
  • Getting started with TikTok, and consistent content publishing
  • My book “How to Sketch” being picked up by a Russian publishing house.
  • Getting my deviated septum fixed and being able to breath fully!!!
  • And some more…

I cannot stress enough how key gratitude is. It’s the thing that enables me to follow my vision clearly.

I practice it every single morning. It doesn’t have to be huge. It doesn’t have to be perfect. Practice appreciating the small things.

And let me know what you’re grateful for, in one of the following places!
