Today I have a treat for you! I want to share my interview with the Amazing Tom Shepherd.
We collaborated before on a YouTube vid, and he then invited me over on his podcast for an interview.
If you’re interested in a longer conversation, diving DEEP on the mindset for success in watercolor and art, as well as some practical tips – I think you’ll really enjoy this one!
Tom’s such a great guy, and I highly recommend you check out his content.
Here are the useful links I mention in the episode:
In this episode I’m sharing my recent thoughts on my brand, the things I want to create and represent with my art, future website changes and personal updates.
Here are the key updates:
Website – Planning major improvements for my website, making it a better hub for my content, and a better reflection of who I am as a person and as an artist.
Art Style – My desire to make my style more contemporary and authentic, for MY OWN enjoyment from it. Perhaps some movement away from the traditional, and more towards the pop culture and relevant.
Higher quality – Mentioned very briefly, this is a part of the trend I’ve experienced for a few months now. Taking a step back, working on my skills and improving the QUALITY of my work. I have no problems with quantity when necessary. However, I want to raise my own bar.
In this episode I’m sharing a personal update and talking about my low productivity in the last couple of weeks. And on a positive note – I’m talking about getting back into POKEMON cards! 😁
2020 has been quite a challenge so far.
I do hope to turn the tables with the last third of the year, from September-December.
Thank you for listening 😊🙏🏼

Today’s another story time! I’ll share with you my relationship with art, drawing and painting from the time I was a KID! And all the way up til now.
I share in this episode some things I never shared before, so I really hope you enjoy it! 😊🙏🏼
Let’s Start at Age 5
First memory – Drawing at my grandparents porch, Dr. Seuss book on one side and my piece of paper on the other. I vividly remember drawing the fuzzy elephant as I saw it.
Elementary School – Taking part in an extra-curricular COMICS class! I remember drawing all sorts of characters, and being very impressed with the older kids’ results.
Turns out me and comics go wayyy more back than I even remembered.
Junior High – Barely made any art
High School – Discovered anime (mainly Naruto and Death Note) and started drawing random anime characters.
I was actually able to dig up these drawings I did, never seen before…!
I spontaneously decided to look for old drawings in my old emails, and was so happy to find that I did have a few!
Military Service – During this time I was barely doing any art. Only in the last 6 months of my service I started moving towards that direction again.
I Could End up NOT an Artist!
That’s the craziest part here.
If you look carefully, you’ll see that from the time I was around 5 years old, all the way up to the military service, over more than a decade – all there was was a steady decline in how much I was creating.
Had the circumstances been even just a little different here and there, I might have not become an artist at all.
In the episode itself I got into a longer rant about the education system, parents and so on haha.
But luckily – I have become one! 😁
My Future Part in the Art World
I also discuss my future part in the art world, and how I want to go beyond my current niche and play a more major role.
More on that in the future, as it unfolds.
Thank YOU So Much
I’m very grateful for you, the listener / viewer / follower. I couldn’t have done any of the things I have without you.
I really appreciate that, and look forward to being able to share and help more and more in the future 😊🙏🏼
Today I wanted to provide you with a quick update about my septoplasty surgery.
This episode is not really art-related, but rather a personal update. Feel free to skip if you are uninterested.
Background to the Septoplasty Surgery
I have had a deviated septum for pretty much as long as I can remember. To be more accurate – I’m not sure I always had it, or it’s a condition that worsened with time.
The deviated septum made it so that my right nostril is mostly blocked. My instinct tells me I had about 20% airflow in it.
In the 10 years or so, I started feeling the effect of this. I couldn’t sleep on my left side properly (would only be able to breath through my mouth).
I also have some allergies, and this worsened them feeling of tickling and stuffiness. My nose was generally annoying haha.
After deciding to get the surgery done, it took about 6 months of preparations, exams and meetings. Most of this was due to the hospital schedule (these surgeries always take time to schedule here).
The Septoplasty Surgery Itself
I got to the hospital very early, signed on and started the prep and anesthesia process.
The surgery was quite short, about 45 minutes long. Out of that I think the doctor was working for about 30 minutes.
It was a funny experience, as I was under local anesthesia. So I felt the doctor pulling stuff, cutting stuff, hitting with a hammer. But at the same time I was really groggy, and luckily felt no pain at all thanks to the anesthetic-soaked pads stuffed into the nostrils at the start of the procedure.
After the surgery I stayed the night at the hospital, and left the next day.
The doctor said the surgery went well, and I should expect too rough of a recovery.
If you want to see some pics from the hospital (nothing graphic haha), check out this IG post: Septoplasty Update on IG
Recovery
I’ve taken a week of “forced vacation” haha. From last wednesday (03/04) till today (10/04) I’ve been sleeping, resting, painting a little and playing on my Switch.
I hope to start gradually going back to work tomorrow.
You can expect new YouTube videos for Thursday and Saturday.
And that’s it for this one. As mentioned, no Artist Corner this time, but we’ll be back to the usual routine really soon (:
