Excited to Be Back – Post Vacation Update| Liron Yanconsky’s Podcast – Episode 40

Hi there! In today’s episode I wanted to you an update after returning from my US vacation.

Vacation

I had a really good time in the US. We visited many places with my family, and saw all sorts of interesting things.

Aside form spending time in Ohio, we also drove through Pennsylvania and New-York (state), and visited the Niagara falls (Canadian side).

Taking a break from work

This is the longest break I took from work, since I got started teaching art and building my personal brand.

I was a little scared about taking such a long break, but it ended up doing really good things.

Painting less frequently

When I got back to painting, I felt more immersed and even more appreciative of how much fun I’m having.

It was great expressing myself in such a way after the long break.

I also feel like I shedded some unnecessary layers of creative blocks, and cleaned up my own authentic creative way of communication.

More on that in a future episode.

Studio

I also moved to a new place recently, and that place has an extra room for a studio space!

I already set most of it up, and am now back on track / to routine.

Having a dedicated creation space is such a big deal for me, as it was my goal since the start of the year.

I hated having to move things around every time I wanted to paint / record. This is a major achievement for me (:

I’m Visiting The USA | Liron Yanconsky’s Podcast – Episode 37

Hi there! Today’s podcast episode is a personal / blog update about my upcoming visit to the USA, and some additional updates.

Visiting the USA

I will be visiting for the entirety of August (2nd – 29th). I’m visiting family in Cleveland, Ohio.

I’m really looking forward to this time. It will give me an opportunity to recharge and reset, and perhaps refresh my vision for the future.

In addition, I’m pretty happy to visit my family! (: We may also visit Canada.

YouTube Channel VS Painting

This is something that’s been on my mind for a while now.

I feel like I’m putting A LOT of work into the YouTube channel, and not enough time into painting and making art.

I think I need to rebalance this. I’m unsure if this means going down to 2 vids a week, or less, but it’s something in that range.

I’m actually considering taking 2 weeks of a complete break from YouTube for a hard reset, but we’ll see.

I don’t want to give up the possible upside / potential, but I do want to make sure I don’t burn myself out.

Results VS Expectations

This is something that pops from time to time. I sometimes feel like my progress isn’t “fast enough”, or that I’m not getting better as fast as I can.

This is of course a little ridiculous. I am working as hard as I can, and I am doing my best. I need to re-sharpen my gratitude and acceptance skills! (:

IGTV

Finally, just wanted to mention this awesome platform.

Instagram created an additional app called IGTV. It’s like YouTube, or a TV, only made for mobile. The videos are vertical, and it’s just fun to use.

What’s up? Liron here, and today I’m interviewing Nitin Singh!

Nitin’s a super-talented watercolor painter from Bangalore, India. I cam across him and his work by finding his YouTube channel.

I think he is a rare find, in that he is very skilled with the medium of watercolor, but also has a lot of interesting insights and ideas that are fresh in his mind. That’s because he’s been seriously painting as long as I have been, for about 3 years now.

Cobalt Blue – ShinHan PWC Watercolor | The Paint Show 25

Hi there!

Today I want to share with you a review of Cobalt Blue by ShinHan PWC watercolor!

PWC is ShinHan’s artist grade watercolor (they also have the Professional line for students and Shami for kids).

Cobalt Blue by ShinHan PWC

I purchased this alongside their Cadmium Red Deep and Cadmium Yellow Deep.

I really love this paint and have used it EXTENSIVELY, in many of the works I shared with you here and on Instagram for the past several months.

Here are some of my works showcasing it.

Cobalt Blue – Paint Info

Pigment: PB28 (cobalt blue).
Semi-transparent
Lightfastness 3/3
Series D (almost the most expensive on the A-E scale)

My Only Complaint With Cobalt Blue

My only complaint with this paint is that it doesn’t achieve dark enough values. It’s not as light as some ceruleans I saw, but it’s still not as dark as many of the Phthalo Blues and French Ultramarines.

I think this could work to your advantage if you are painting in a softer style. For me however – I love strong contrasts at times. I love to use a wide range of values.

Another issue caused by this is that it’s hard for the blue to be dominant when mixed with the red and yellows I purchased (partially my fault, as they are more opaque).

I do love the way it looks

With that being said, I produced many beautiful paintings with it, and love the way it looks.

I’d recommend getting it as a part of a gentle trio, alongside lemon yellows and rose-like colors.

These sell on Amazon as sets. I’m not usually a big fan of watercolor sets, but for the price point – these may be worth it.

Conclusion

I really love ShinHan’s PWC paints so far, and plan on getting many more in the future. This is a great color to have too.

Don’t Worry About Inconsistent Artistic Results | Liron Yanconsky’s Podcast – Episode 15

Episode Summary

In this episode I want to share with you an epiphany I’ve had following a conversation with a friend of mine.

I bumped into her as I was painting, and we talked for a while. I shared how I recently feel like my results are inconsistent.

Here response really surprised me. She simply said that OF COURSE it’s going to be inconsistent. It’s art!

This really got me thinking.

I finally came to realize after a while – OF COURSE she’s right. Art and creativity are BY DEFINITION inconsistent.

That’s their magic! If they were consistent, they’d also be boring!

Artist Corner

In this episode we talked about the artist Lora Zombie. She’s an extremely talented Russian painter.

She often expresses different ideas and messages through here work. Her style has this unique POP to it (she refers to it as grunge art), and her favorite color seems to be blue.

She does exhibitions and galleries all around the world, and also makes and sells clothing items featuring her art.
